If you are interested in scheduling a session with me, please read through the information and carefully review the self-screening questions just below if you scroll down. Once you have reviewed the questions, you can request a free, 10 minute consultation with the contact form. I will be in touch with you. Free phone consultations are strictly for prospective psychotherapy clients who have reviewed the self-screening questions and can agree to those terms.
Once we decide to set up a first appointment, we will meet first on a weekly basis. I’ve seen through my experience that the consistency of weekly or twice-weekly therapy allows us to build trust and best understand and address your needs. Regular sessions last for 50-55 minutes.
Self-Screening Questions to be considered for services with Lyndsay Janzen
These questions will give you an idea as to whether my practice will be a good fit for you and what you need from therapy. Resources and possible referrals are listed below. Please don’t wait to seek support if you are suffering.
Are you an adult residing in Oklahoma and open to online sessions via secure video conference or by phone? I only offer teletherapy (no in-person sessions). I generally work Monday through Thursday from 5:00PM-8:00PM and Sundays 12:00PM-6:00PM. I do not have any availability outside of these times to schedule sessions. At this time, I schedule week to week and do not offer standing appointments.
2. Are you able to pay my current full fee of $130 per 50-minute session if I am not in network with your insurance? I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for folks with marginalized identities, or for clients who need to come twice weekly but cannot afford to pay for two full fee sessions per week. My sliding scale spots have been filled at this time. If we end up working together over an extended period of time, I typically raise my fee by at least $10 every year. You are responsible for paying the copayment or session fee at the time of service, and I cannot guarantee any reimbursement by your insurance company.
3. Are you able to commit to meeting once weekly at the beginning of working with me? Sessions are 50-55 minutes long. In the beginning, I do not work with people less than once weekly because it prevents a therapeutic alliance from being formed. Also, it can result in therapy becoming a time for “catching up” on life events rather than a time for going in depth. Making your therapy a priority will make a big difference in its effectiveness. Please consider carefully if you can make this kind of financial and time commitment.
4. Are you able to commit to consistently attending a weekly or biweekly therapy appointment for an extended period of time? Although you are free to end your therapy at any point, establishing a therapeutic relationship and unpacking and processing can take time. Length of treatment varies per individual and often cannot be predicted. Treatment length is often driven by how chronic or severe the symptoms and problems a person is facing. I work best with folks who are engaged and committed to long term treatment.
5. Are you already working with another therapist? Please let me know if you are working with another therapist. There are some situations that call for working with more than one therapist, but many times this creates some ethical and interpersonal problems that can hinder your therapy. I often encourage people to speak to their current therapist about any concerns or intentions before starting with a different therapist.
6. Are you inquiring on behalf of yourself? I am unable to work with anyone but the person whom will be attending therapy. If you are inquiring on behalf of a loved one, please have them review these questions and complete the contact form.
7. Are you seeking psychedelic therapy or microdosing guidance? If so, please note that I do NOT offer these services and will not respond to inquiries of this nature at this time. However, I do offer psychedelic harm reduction counseling and assistance with processing previous psychedelic experiences. Please let me know if this is what you’re looking for. I do not give referrals for psychedelic therapy. I also might gently discourage use of psychedelics if I suspect there is too great a risk of harm for an individual. There is risk of adverse effects with the use of psychedelics and cannabis even in legal and highly controlled research settings.
If any of these questions does not rule my practice out for you, please fill out the contact form. I will be in touch with you to schedule a free 10-15 minute consultation.
*As we begin to meet during the first few weeks, I will be getting to know you and your concerns. I may determine that some symptoms and conditions might be inappropriate to treat over telehealth or may be outside of my scope of practice or competence. In this case, I am legally and ethically obligated to let you know and provide you with referrals to a provider who is better suited to meet your needs.
If your answers to any of the questions above prohibit us from being able to work together, here are some referrals and resources.

Good Faith Estimate Notice:
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask me for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule with me. Your Good Faith Estimate will be provided in a document you can access at any time in my Simple Practice client portal.
